The island of Thoddoo is most famous for its watermelons, so it’s no surprise that a large area of this island is taken up by farms used to cultivate the fruit throughout the year. However, “watermelon island of Alif Alif atoll” is now making a name for itself in the country’s booming guesthouse industry also. In 2014, Thoddoo had only two guesthouses but the number has already risen to seven, with several more under construction. Major attractions here include the fantastic “bikini-style” private beach area, the crystal clear waters perfect for snorkeling /swimming and a few world-class diving sites nearby.
